During this test campaign nanoparticle emissions of a latest-technology gasoline vehicle equipped with a gasoline particulate filter (GPF) were evaluated over a combination of different test cycles at Thessaloniki (Laboratory of Applied Thermodynamics, Aristotle Uni). A cascade impactor was used to collect the different size fractions of particles with a focus on nanoparticles (diameter below 100 nm). Particle number and mass emission as well as particle size distribution were also determined. Gaseous emissions including CO and NOx were measured in parallel for a complete characterization of the exhaust gas composition. The chemical composition of the collected nanoparticles will in the next step be determined, while in parallel the health effects of the nanoparticles will be evaluated with relevant in vitro testing.
